Fasting is an important topic today. The spiritual climate is very cloudy, so many don’t see the spiritual issues because their minds are clouded. I believe that fasting and prayer can do a lot to uncloud hearts and minds and bring the Church to the place it needs to hold in this world.
We’re in a spiritual drought at the moment, with an abundance of what does not satisfy, prevail, or change anything. An environment of spiritual famine is deadlier than famine from food. We should be concerned about the elect being right with God and in position to effect something good in our nation. Only the God kind of fast can help a person understand their relationship to God and their own nation, for then we truly are humbling ourselves in the sight of God.
There’s something powerful about giving something up in the natural and God giving back to you in the spiritual realm. Our objective in fasting is to enhance our own spirit’s quality due to the graces that flow to us by a God-led, God-chosen fast that will raise our levels of anointing and break the bands of wickedness that will only respond to prayer with fasting.
Some Christians fast to get God to do things for them, which God never wants you to do. It’s manipulative. The enemy does, however, and he will answer with revelation to achieve his evil purposes. Today’s hunger strikes make me realize how timely “The Call to Fast” book is. May’s broadcasts present the fasted life and lessons from the lives of those in the Bible who fasted and received the most amazing, glorious outcomes.
